best time of day for outdoor photography sessions.

When it comes to outdoor photography, the time of day can make a big difference in the quality of your photos so, when is the Best Time of Day for Outdoor Photography Sessions?

The best time of day for location photography sessions is typically the "golden hour," which is the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. During these times, the sun is lower in the sky, which creates a softer, warmer light that is more flattering and easier to work with.

Early Morning Early morning is a great time for outdoor photography, especially when we are working with young children. The light is soft and warm, and the air is often calm and quiet. Australian summers can be hot and harsh so an early morning start can also be a great option for those that don't love the heat.

Midday While midday may not be the best time for outdoor photography due to harsh lighting, it can work if you find the right location. Shooting in the shade or utilising our amazing technical abilities can help soften the light and create more flattering photos but as we are often working with young children that do not like to sit still, this can add an extra challenge to you session. If we must shoot during midday, we look for locations with plenty of shade.

Late Afternoon/Early Evening The late afternoon and early evening hours are also great times for outdoor photography. The light is warm and golden, and the shadows are long, which can create beautiful and dramatic photos. This is a great time for capturing portraits, especially if you're looking for that beautiful, golden-hour glow.

Sunset Sunset is a beautiful time for outdoor photography, as the light is warm and rich, and the sky can be filled with beautiful colors. Keep in mind that the window of time for sunset is relatively short, so we need to plan accordingly and it is important that everyone arrives on time.

Ultimately, the best time to shoot will depend on your specific needs, so take some time to chat with us (or your chosen photographer) to discuss the look you are after and we can then work with best locations to find the perfect time for your outdoor photography session.
